Pointon followed up their 4-0 victory against Navenby with a spectacular performance in the Grantham Cup Quarter Finals against Great Ponton.

Earlier in the year Pointon had gone 2 goals up against Great Ponton and ended up losing 5-2.  The boys were determined to show they had progressed and that their stamina had increased.

A steady start from Pointon built up into a flurry of attacks and a corner was won which resulted in a poor clearance to Oliver who hammered the ball home for advantage to Pointon.

With heads up Pointon continued in push and Joshua won the ball in midfield and shot the ball past the keeper.

Right boys we had been here before!!

Great Ponton had a few shots which were were saved by Charlie (who stood in for Coleby) after he could not continue - well done Coleby for coming as we know you had not been well.

In the second half Pointon continued to defend valiantly and attack in formation and Joshua added to his tally with another goal.

Last weeks man of the match Ben worked the right wing and after his persistence Ryan crossed the ball across the goal and Ben deflected Joshuas shot past the keeper for his first league goal of the season.

Later in the match tiredness set in and a misunderstanding in defence resulted in Gt Pontons no 10 running through to score a consellation.

Overall a very good game with progression showed by all the boys including those that came on as subs who all added to the team performance and played as much a part in the win as anyone.

Charlie was awarded Man of the Match for his calm defensive style and skill he showed when running the ball from defense.

The Semi finals will be against one of the following teams - Gonerby, Aslockton or Ancaster who are the top three teams in the league but we have no doubt that if they play the same as this match we can see Pointon in the finals.
